Oh ya, melting a plug makes the ground strap open in gap size. (right?)
If it closed like that on its own...check for piston clearance

i have been told detonation can push the ground like that. number 7 is always the first to go, is it really running fine with just a plug change? i would expect a broken piston.

could you hear any detonation?

I would warm up the truck and fill that cylinder with air see if you hear air in the oil pan. If you do there is something wrong with the piston or rings.

Ease software is the best and most full featured, ELive is good, HPTunes is good and Autotap is fair.

i think you will get the most support around here with efilive.

i had a copy of ease about 1.5years ago. it was barely better than atap back then. they probably have something better now.

i use autotap, but i would go with efilive if you don't have a logging program yet (efilive takes many more readings per log than autotap). OR if you need a tuning program AND a logging program i would check out hptuners
