Default New BCM. Anybody done it?

I have a 2002 PCM in my truck. Been there for almost a month now. Runs good but this dam battery light flashing is really pissing me off. If I get a 2002 BCM, does anybody know of that will get rid of the battery light flashing? Will that even work? I know there is a special relearn procedure for the BCM that does require a TechII. Sorry this isnt really performance related but I need to try something and also needed some input.

I don't think it is a very good idea to try replacing the BCM to get rid of the battery light. That would be a pretty expensive part to throw at it. Why do you have a 02' pcm in your truck anyway? I don't know if the 99 and 02 pcm's are the same or not, but it would make alot more since to let a mechanic take a look at it instead of throwing a BCM at it.

what kind of "light" are you geting. i am with v8, pull the lamp or cover it with tape if it is just a lamp. if it is the message center then that wouldn't work.

The 99 and 2002 PCMs are written alot differently. My 99 PCM made my truck run like ***! False knock was turning into a big problem. So I decided to try a PCM which helped tremendously. I am not going to buy a new BCM, I was going to find one on a similarly equipped 02 Silverado and try it out. I didnt want to pay anybody to tell me what was wrong. I pretty much knew it was the **** 99 PCM.

Parish,

The battery light in the info center flashes with the 02 PCM in. I can disconnect it!

Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO ConfigurationNotesIMPORTANT: If the module is replaced, programming the module with the proper RPO configurations must be done prior to performing the Passlock Learn procedure.

  1. The BCM must be programmed with the proper RPO configurations. The BCM stores the information regarding the vehicle options. If the BCM is not properly configured with the correct RPO codes the BCM will not control the features properly. Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for BCM programming:
    1. Follow the SPS instructions on the Techline Terminal and scan tool to program the BCM.
    2. If the BCM fails to accept the program, perform the following steps:
      Passlock Learn Procedures
Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components in Theft Deterrent for the appropriate learn procedure.

IMPORTANT: After programming, perform the following to avoid future misdiagnosis:

      1. Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds .
      2. Connect the scan tool to the data link connector.
      3. Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.
      4. Use the scan tool in order to retrieve history DTCs from all modules.
      5. Clear all history DTCs.

Yeah, I kinda scratched the BCM idea earlier today after I talked to a friend. All I can do is hope updating my 99 PCM will work.

          Any updates.
I'm getting the flashing battery light with my new 02 pcm.
The Truck is running so much better now with the nelson tuned 02 pcm and 24 lb injectors. No more Knock.

Now to get rid of the annoying light.

I did the security relearn and the idle relearn.
Prolly after 1000-1500 I'll have to have the crank relearn done.

Can a tech II get reprogram the bcm as well?

Quick Reply: New BCM. Anybody done it?
