Default New best at track tonight!!

My best run was a 14.85 @ 92.14 mph with a 2.168 60'. My previous best was 14.92 @ 92.68 mph with a 2.266 60'. Also tested an AirAid drop in filter vs a Purolator paper filter, well sort of a test. My first run was with the paper filter, it was 15.030 @ 91.364 mph, the next run I put the AirAid filter in and ran a 14.921 @ 91.781. Grant this was only a one run comparison, I used the AirAid filter the rest of the night and the runs were from 15.011, 14.946, 14.940 and my best of 14.853.. I think I know why my top end speed is slower and has been slower my last three trips, different tires. I had different tires with most of my other trips to the track, Pep Boy specials, they were a 80K tires, now I've got some America's Tires Contenital 60K tires. I think the previous tires had a harder rubber, that's why they would last longer. They also must have had less rolling resistance, my mpg went down almost 1 mpg with these new tires. These tires do grip better but they may have more rolling resistance so my top end mph is lower. At least that's my theory. The temp was 61* most of the night with a few drops of rain from time to time, overall had a good night.

Congrats on your new best! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
Do you know what elevation your track is at? Also what were your before and after times with the yank 2400?

</font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Last time there with out the Yank I ran in the 15.3's to 15.4's. I also had a Flowmaster 70 series muffler, now I have a Magnaflow. Same configuration, single in and dual out style mufflers. My first time with the Yank, my best was a 15.002 @ 91.519, only got two runs in before it started raining. This time I also added the HPP 92 tuning, I was only using the higher shift points before. My 60's before the Yank were 2.35-2.37, this trip they were 2.16-2.21..

I do 0-60 stop watch runs though and it ran 0-60 in an average time of 7.35 seconds. Now it does 0-60 in 6.0-6.2 range on the same stop watch. I know a stop watch is hit and miss, I do several runs, throw out the obvious screws up and average up the rest to get an average time. The stop watch time is fairly close, I've used an online line 0-60 calculator that uses your 1/8 mile time and speed to calculate your 0-60 time. I just did it and it says base on my 1/8 mile time, my truck does 0-60 in 6.23 seconds.

Excellent! Your truck is starting to move. Each .1 in the 60' is good for about .2-.3 in the 1/4th.

Now you need a ported TB <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I was thinking of getting a Port TB next or pulleys. What was the website with the ported and polished stock TB's?, I believe you are the one that posted it before. I did contact them and got a response from claiming that the LS1 f-bodies get about 8-10 hp from them but they said they haven't dynoed an LS1 based truck yet.

Grats man!

You're definately getting quicker. Making me want to mod my truck a lil. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Did you run it at Sac or Infineon?

Sac raceway is about 50' osl I believe.

It is without a doubtthe fastest track we have in Cali even if it is ghetto.

Hey Y2K Silverado!

I have an 03 ECSB sierra with some bolt ons and am seriously considering a stall converter. What made you decide to go with a 2400 stall instead of a 3000? I occassionaly tow my honda civic and some track junk so I need a converter that can tow.

How do you like the 2400? How is it in traffic, daily driving etc.? My truck is my daily driver so I have to be careful choosing a converter.

Any info you can give me on your converter would be great!

Hey FL8PONY! I went Sac, the crowd wasn't bad with the weather being iffy. Only saw about 5 trucks, an OO Silverado SBSC was running in the 15.4's, and Ford ext cab was at 17.2 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> . I need to get something for the top end now, I've been working on parts that help low end. A ported TB is probably next.

Hey MarineBlue03GMC
I got the Yank 2400 because it was the cheapest and most conservative one they make. I only had $585 to spend and the converter and installation were just that. I'm conservative by nature so it was a good choice for me. I like it, I now have traction problems so I can't imagine getting a 3K stall, no way the truck would hook up. I can't even tell it's in the truck anymore. It does take a touch more gas to get the truck rolling and if I just let the truck creep when I take my foot off the brake, it doesn't creep as fast. Other than that, no real difference. I can really burn rubber now with it, before when I would punch if from a stop and not brake stall, I wouldn't get much tire spin, maybe 10'. Two nights ago I nailed it from a stop light and must of left 50-60' of rubber, both tires. It does make a nice difference in that aspect, Yank said it was good for a .2-.3 seconds reduction at the track and it did deliver that. Other said go for a higher stall but it wasn't in my budget. If I did have more cash to spend, I would probably get the 2800 but I don't reget getting the 2400.

You mean here... http://home.att.net/~m.shaner/wsb/ht...ome.html-.html <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Your pullies here... http://www.rpmoutlet.com/aspgm.htm#truck <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> make sure you get the smallest alternator pulley

8-10 on the TB and probably about 10-15 on the pullies. For about $300+install you will gain aboot 20rwhp or so.

Marine blue...I have a 2200rpm stall in my F-150 and it is wonderful. Putting around in town is very nice. Even with its (anemic)185HP 5.0 from the factory and my many boltons, it is still faster than my Z71! It probably runs 15.2-15.6. I did slap a Dodge 5.9 RT in it once. Hahaha.
