Re: New best at track tonight!!
I'd like to the the TB gains dyno proven or even track proven if you can get the conditions perfect. I have ported a ton of them for LS1 cars and never seen a damn thing on the dyno. Just better throttle response.
Has anyone here done any accruate testing? I want to believe it will help my truck but I am hesitant to do it till I see something good.

Re: New best at track tonight!!
Thanks for all the info. Sounds like a 2400,2600 or 2800 would be the way to go.
How hard is it do do the install on a converter? Do you have to completely remove the tranny?
If any of you guys paid for the install how much did you all pay?
I have always been interested in a throttle body for my truck too. On my turbo honda I gained 7hp to the wheels with a bored throttle body with port matched intake. Considering this a chevy 5.3 should easily gain this type of power, power thats definitely noticeable, especially when at wide open throttle!
I dont know if I would really want to port match myself but maybe I could remove my intake manifold and then have someone port match it?
Hmmmmm. So many plans, so little money

Trans has to totally come out. For a 2x4 truck expect to pay about $200-300. 4x4 is more b/c more work is involved. Also besure to change the filter while its apart.
Sometimes high stall converters soften the shifts and you may want to install a TransGo shift kit and/or billet servos.
Only an 80mm BBK would need to be port matched. The stock 77mm is set for the hole in the intake.
F8LPONY...the ported TB is a big deal on ls1.com. Many people run them with results
