Default New Crane truck cam

I just came across cranes new line of cams on there website, called truck power. They say they increase low RPM torque and midrange torque, as well as HP. The specs are #1449505 200/200 .502/.502 113 LSA. What do you guys think of it.

How much increase over stock are they talking? That's probably a pretty good one though. Not a racers cam, but an improvement none the less. Stock springs would work in there too.

I spoke with the guy that developed the cam back in September. He is out of Florida and does alot of development on thier cams. This cam was tested and developed through alot of Dyno work. I got his number from Comp Cams, but lost it. Seemed like a nice cam for a truck that wasn't going to use alot of converter.

sounds like the kind of cam id probably like to get. im not a racer, im lifted, so id like a cam with some good low end oomph, but also some mid/high power. i dont know too much about cams....will this one give you a good lopy sounding idle? or is it not that aggressive? ive heard that a ls6 cam is a good swap, but its not very agressive, and the gains are in the higher rpm ranger. also, would i need to do any kind of computer tuning after a cam swap?

i think you would be dissapointed in that cam. probably not much gain at all. im thinking < 10rwhp. im sure they also want the normal 375 or 400 for that cam as well. for a good low end cam on a 5.3 i would go with the 206/212 or even a custom cam in the 210-214ish duration area on a 112lsa.

Yeah a 200/200 is a puny cam. I would not even spend the money to buy it and install it.

Go with the specs listed by really slow truck. I like a 214/220 myself.
