I have searched and search and can't quite find what I'm looking for. I currently have a 5.3 in a 05 CCSB 4WDthat I plan on swapping with a 6.0 with cam and full 9 yards. and possibly stroking and adding a pro charger in the next year or so. Been working killer OT at work and been saving saving saving. But my problem is now I have a stopper up cat. I have a set of pacesetters LTs that I bought and gonna put on while I'm under there along with a full exhaust. But I'm not exactly sure what I need. Some say a Y pipe and some say a X pipe. Some say cats and some say no cats. I'm just trying to get a full view of what I need to do now while I'm under there so be there once I do my engine swap and all and the exhaust be done. All I know is I'm gonna go with my LTs and Magaflow because I think they have the best deep sound. And heard they were the best performance. Thanks guy. And I'm sure someone has asked all this before and instead of having to start another one. A link to another thread of the same would be just fine also. Thanks guys again

on a built 6.0 i like my dual 3 into single 3.5 but on a stroker id go dual 3 with x pipe. as for muffler(s), depends on sound and loudness you want/like. i personally dont like loud obnoxious exhausts and i dont like them to show. so i run dual 3 into flowmaster y merge single 3.5 out to magnaflow 22 and dumped at an angle before axle. no drone and love it

The factory 2500HD exhaust is a dual 2.75" mandrel bent exhaust, that goes into a DI/SO muffler to 3.5" tailpipe. Which might be an option, if you got a well stocked junkyard around.
I had it stock, but ruined the tailpipe while working, offroad at a drill site. So I ran a cheap, used DI/DO 3" Flopro muffler dumped right before the axle and made it a true dual exhaust. Then I eventually bought a DI/DO 3" muffler with internal X-pipe and have been incredibly happy with the tone, sound and performance of it over every iteration I've had.
I like to keep the cats in place, but if they are dirty or clogged, I don't often spend the money to replace them if I don't have to. I've got low mileage factory cats from my 04 parts truck (wrecked) installed and even drove the truck around for 4 days with just the cats and the exhaust dumped before the bed. It was insanely loud, but even driving at 4am I didn't get harassed by the local police.
