Question new guy with questions

I am having an 02 gmc rcsb 5.3 tranfered in. I had a few questions for you guys in the know.

1. what size cam should i throw at it? (im thinking 224/224)
2. who would you suggest i get heads from (i know its a personal preference thing but what was your choice)?
3. do the flt built 4l60e's hold up or should i go with a 4l80?
4. who makes the best long tube?
5. how do you know what rear ratio your truck has from the factory?

basically looking to build a solid heads/cam/nitrous 5.3 truck and when that goes build a 408. is the 224/224 cam good for the 5.3 or should i go bigger/smaller?

Thank you all,
Marty

welcome!

1)depends on application (street/strip.etc)
2)once again, depends on application. if you get heads, get a cam to match them
3)i have heard a TON of good things about FLT. PM vince, he'll tell you more
4)there are a few manufacturers that make good long tubes. Pacesetters is the best bang for your buck in my opinion
5)there's a sticker with a lot of codes in the glove box. im not sure which one it is, maybe someone can give you a little more insight on this

6)3 bolt cam. your 02 is a generation 3 motor, so it has 3 cam bolts

hope this helps ya

About your gears, its a G code. GUx i believe, the x will be a number. Google it and it will tell you what you have.

You probably have 3.42s
