Question new here! want performance, have $1500 to spend.silverado 1500

im new to this site, well and to chevy's too. been a dodge diesel person for awhile.diesel prices are too high and cant beat chevrolet's ride and comfort.im a marine 600 miles away from home and drive that distance at least once a month, and like you all just the words "leave it stock" isnt in my vocabulary.lol. havent made a signature yet but what i have is a 2002 Silverado Z71 with the 5.3.i just droped $1700 on a custom stereo system and now im jumping into the best part, the performance.well right now i have about $1500 to spend on it.if you guys could give me some pointers in where i should look then that would be great. i figure ill start with intake and exhaust.but what after that? also, what are some good brands to start with so i can get them ordered. id like to know about how much power will the transmission handle until i have to start busting into that? thanks for any help i can get.just trying to dump the money into my truck quick and right before it goes elsewhere.

Pick up a trango shift kit, servos, also long tube exhaust, your intake, a good tune. That should get ya started, will be a well noticed improvement.. Welcome to PT.N

the tranny probably wont hold very much, although some have been lucky. get a tune with your exhaust and intake, longtube headers, cam etc........ search around the site and youll find multiple things you can do.

would i be safe with the internals with a 150 shot? nitrous is definately not out of the question, since i drive nothing but highways.i didnt figure the stock tranny would hold much. what are some good headers to look into.i was on summits racings site and there are multiple brands.are you talking about EFI live tune, or a Programmer? im not gonna start running EFI live until it gets boosted after next deployment.a year and a half or so.if ur talking about a programmer then what are some good ones?

I would go with a 125 shot, engine will handle it fine, it would all be in the tune, i 125 would prob be easier to tune for then the 50 on a mail tune. Also alot of people including myself are running pace setter long tubes. The trans will die if ya don't do the kit, a cooler, will still probable crap out after that. You might want to take the back way to it, start with a built trans first then do the mods to the truck.. Hmmmmm

dont get summit shorties anything like that..got speed engineering..one of the sponsors on the right and get some pacesetter longtube headers, dont even waste your money on a programmer man..get custom dyno tune with efilive or hptuners, a mail order tune is better than a programmer
