Default New LQ4 Swap?

Well not really new but new to me it has 50,000 miles. My question is what oil should i run in it. It has 5-30 on the oil cap. I was thinking of switching to mobil 1 5-30 but have heard before it isn't a good idea to switch to synthetic if you have been running dino oil for a long time. But i have no idea what was run in it before. I have a vortech sc so i also want whats best for it since it uses the trucks oil supply too.
Thanks

Are you saying you did a swap to a 6.0.and you didnt give any info about where you came from and what you've done to your ride?. 5-30 mobile 1 is allways a best safe bet.

Sorry about the lack of details I have a 2000 extended cab 4X2 currently with a 5.3 gibson shorty headers (I wish they would of had Pacesetters back then for 300 bucks) BBk 80mm tb, flowmaster catback 3 inch back to muffler dual 2.5 straight out the back, k&n fipk, 42# injectors, Nelson tune, meth injection and a vortech running about 10#. I just bought a junkyard 6.0 liter to put in it b/c my 5.3 is burning oil like crazy and knocking. It's coming from cylinder # 7 so i checked the compression and on a good cylinder it was around 135 or so and on #7 it was only 65 So i got a pretty good deal on a 6 liter with 50,000 miles on it witch is about 49,000 less miles than my 5.3 had. I also have a transgo shift kit, tranny cooler, and a trailblazer converter to go in it at the same time with the 6 liter. I am going to make sure everything is perfect before running the 6 liter hard, i really don't know what happened to my 5.3 it ran really well with always less than 2* KR and this was in the dead heat of last summer. I was cruising down the interstate at about 80 when the check engine oil level light came on and i pulled over at the next autoparts store and it was 1.5 quarts low, and i could smell the oil burning ever since. It was all downhill from there. I'm going to leave the supercharger alone so 10# on a 5.3 will probably be about 8 on a 6 liter. I just want to do everything i can to make this 6 liter last as long as possible b/c this motors got to last me for a LOOONG time. I know what type of oil i was using had nothing to do with what happened but i just want to start out right with this new motor.
Thanks
one last ? how do you make a signiture so that all my mods will always be on the bottom when i post?

You can use ARP wave-loc rod bolts. You dont have to replace them, you dont sound like your gonna rev it that hard. But you can do them if you want to.

Yeah i'm still trying to decide if a little over a hundred bucks is worth it. I will have the engine just sitting on a stand with the oil pan off so it will be an easy change. I might end up doing it just in case i decide to spin it higher and for peace of mind. How much of a drop in boost can i expect going from a 5.3 to the 6.0? I was thinking 2 pounds or so. I am hoping for a solid 8# with the 6.0.
Thanks for all the help guys
