Default New Member here 4.8 with LS1 heads???

Hello Guy's

New member here and I have a question. I done almost everything to my truck(paint,suspension,interior,audio,ext..) and I think it is time to "wake up my motor.

99' GMC Sierra (The DreamSICKle)
4.8 V8 Daily Driver
pretty much stock (cold air, flowmaster)

Here's the question: Would a pair of ls1 heads be worth putting on a 4.8???
What kind of gains can I expect?
I have been seriously thinking about some CNC'd LS1 heads with a bump stick and a tune of course!

I need something to settle my nerves until I do what I really should do: 402 with forced induction.

Stick with the 4.8 heads. LS1 heads have a larger combustion chamber, and if you put them on a 4.8, you'll lose compression and power.

yeah, i would keep your stock heads. I assume they are the same as the 5.3 but im not sure. Get a nice cam, converter and clean your heads up and it should be good. Or you could drop a 6.0 w/a cam in it for not much more once you sell the 4.8.

i put ls1 heads on mine and it didn't seem to hurt anything but i use the tiny felpro gaskets. between tune and heads and the ls6valve springs my top end came alive a little more but i put the heads on couse i'm going turbo.

Yeah LS1 heads will flow more!! but they drop compression. If you plan on doing some forced induction then these will come in handy. If you want to go NA then stick with your heads and get em ported an polished.
