Ohhh before we put the motor in. It was sitting on a tire and I noticed that there was some oil coming out of the TB. Once i noticed the oil I quickly straightened the motor up. Do not know if this has anything to do with the smoke or not though.

does. Let it run for a while and see if it clears up. Might have been upside down as stated.

That was probably just oil vapor from the pcv system that had collected in the intake tract. Then when cool it pools up into a nice oil collection in the intake manifold. No worries on that end. Like the above have said run it for a little while and change the oil and see if the smoke happens to disappear, or remain.

Well that's good news, maybe the smoke is just residual fluids that worked their way into the intake while the engine was sitting, as others have metionede. You could try running a can of Seafoam through the brake booster hose to the intake and see if that helps clean it up a bit. It'll smoke like hell while you do the service, but after a good ride of driving like it's the last lap of the Daytona 500, you'll be good to go

just a bit of a warning to seafoam. great product it may be. users tend not to read the label. when doing the service. let it slowly suck the seafoam up. it should take 20 minutes for it to suck the can up. at my work we have the correct can to let it drizzle into the intake. then after that, you start it up and WITHOUT PUTTING IT IN ANY GEAR. you rev it up and down the tach. label says keep it around 2500 rpm or so. just to be safe. ive seen people that do the service and immediatly drive off after its sucked up. and they complain of knock. well yea. theres fluid in your intake. also. if you own a dodge neon. dont do the service. because of the angle of how the motor is mounted. it pools in the back of the intake. and there are numerous times of hydro lockup. i know this is a chevy part of the forum and yey chevy. but just a warning. good luck to you and lets all hope it was just oil and not a head gasket.

drain your oil and see if there is coolant in it, i just swapped out a 4.3 that had a cracked head, the engine was pretty much destroyed, he just kept adding rad fluid for a couple months. the rad fluid all ended up in the oil causing 3 inches of sludge in the oil pan, shot bearings and all half the push rods had the ends ground down.
