Default new motor over heating

I've got a new motor that I'm trying to get down the road. I've tried the burping method, and it's still running hot. Hot by, the temp goes up, and never levels out. I've tried reving it up, filling up the reservoir, and then quickly closing the cap, but I've had no luck. Once the motor gets back below 200 after leaving it off, if the cap is removed, it'll beltch hot fluid all over the place.

After reading some other posts, I'm thinking about taking it out for some laps, but I have no idea how far I'll get before it starts to over heat again.

Anyone have some ideas? I can grab the bottom hoses, but the top are considerably hotter to the touch. I've tried "pumping" the bottom hose, but it never sucks anything back in. I know that the head gaskets are ok, right direction and what not, I assembled the engine.

I know there is a tubing that goes from one head to the other head on the other side, is you just loosen that bolt, (just loosen it, on either head, passenger head is easier to get to,) trapped air will come out until you get antifreeze... that helps get the air pockets out if any...

pump the top hose ALOT!
when i did my intake swap i put a used ls1 water pump on it.
after i started it, i kept adding coolant to replace all that got out when the w/p got removed. next thing you know the temp was at like 240 so i sut it down. i was like **** i know my t stat works, maybe i have a bad w/p. so i let it cool for a while and started it back up and begain pumping the top radiator hose. sure enough that fixed it. i guess it formed a big airpocket and the top radiator hose was cool.

hope this helps you some.

I had to drive mine to get the air pocket out. Just take a bottle or two of mix with you and stop if it starts to get hot and refill.

your going to be burping for days haahaha, you just have alot of air in there, good luck, if you have time do some hot to cold cycles and burp it each time untill you get all the air out.

update: It pucked out the reservoir. Blew the top line right off

I can rev up and down from 1-3K and it's hovering around 210-220. the second I let off, it's a race to the other side of 250.

it's never over heated before, so I'm hoping that it's air that's doing this. I'll try pumping the top hose before it gets too hot again. I've got a nice orange drive way right now.

When it cools down remove the top radiator hose from radiator and fill thru top hose. This is the highest point on engine and will get 99 percent of the air out from the start.

New motor as in just built? I've read stories of head gaskets being put on wrong or wrong gaskets and blocking cooling passages. Just saying this because it would take a lot of pressure to blow lines off the reservoir. I've done a couple swaps and burping was done but it shouldn't be to hard.

new motor, not rebuilt, i was sure to put the gaskets the correct way

removed the t-stat, and it's still doing the same thing

I can start it up, run it for 2 min, then it starts to over head, . . . I mean the needle MOVES . . . If I rev it up, to cools off, but the second that I let off, it's back to over heating
