Question New Oil pump installed...then pickup tube bolt strips?

So as title says I install a new katech oil pump for my lq9 build i'm doing now.

Set the torque wrench to 9 ftlbs and before it ever reaches it, the bolt will get kinda tight (maybe 4-5 ftlbs), then spin a bit, then hand tight, then spin, etc.

I'm trying to find out the best way to deal with this.

I don't want to have to send the pump back for a new one, or buy another.

Looking for a solution with current that is relatively easy.

The other bolt hole for the oil pump inlet should be fine, is there some way to flip around the bracket to line up to that one or something?

Spec is 106 inch lbs...

Either Heli-Coil that hole you stripped out, or send for another pump.

106 in lbs is 8.8333 ft lbs. But like I said it never even got close to that before it started spinning.

I'll look into helicoil.

Also check into Timeserts, they're a lot more robust than Helicoil and have better torque characteristics.

I dont believe in that torque spec nonsense for static bolts. Put some loctite on it and snug it up

...but since you already striped it, helicoil it, or get a new one.

I say do it right. Send that **** back. That better to wait a few days on a $100 part than a few weeks on a $1000 motor. Just sayin.
