yea I have a hotrod magazine on this truck. Same article as above. If they come out with it I will def have one. But far as i know they are not coming out with it.

How did GM go from offering the GNX, to the Syclone, to a 6000lb ECSB SS? So now the ONLY vehicle GM makes that can run 13s is the Vette. Even the SSR runs 15s. The GTO runs 14s. And thats it now for performance.

GM has the largest, best basket of goodies of any American manufacturer IMO.
So why cant they seem to put the right parts together, and give us what we want?

I would like a RCSB w/ 345hp 6.0, 4L80E, 2wd, 4.10s G-80, and in an LS package. I think that should run mid 14s stock. Mid 13s with basic bolt ons and a tune.

There are several cars that GM makes that will run 13s...

Vette
Z06
Caddy CTS-V
GTO

What about the new Bonneville GXP? I doubt that it will run 13s, but it might hit 14s!

I saw 3 at a GMC dealership - salesman told me "out back there is a supertruck that nobody knows about" - I knew what it was right after he said that. Cool truck if your looking for a good platform to start with (6.0) and ext cab, but IMO, the wheels are ugly, and its WAY overpriced if what the salesman said was true........"about 35,000" I told him people could buy a Lightning and spend 2k on it for that price, he agreed.

Lets do a hostle take over at the GM design center.

Whats the point of even bringing out the cool, fast , high power trucks in a reg cab platform in concepts, if they seem to never intend on making one?

That's what has been pissing me off for years... Ford and Dodge seem to see a market for short cab/hot motor trucks, and they're right (well, Ford is anyhow... I see plenty of Lightnings).

With the strength of the LSx bottom end, GM could easily throw a modest boost intercooled screw-type blower on a 6.0L, bolt a 4L80E behind it, and connect it to a 3/4 ton rear end w/ 3.73-3.90 gears. Offer it all up in a SHORT cab, short bed, 2WD 1/2 ton truck w/ application-specific springs/shocks/sway bars and ditch the gaudy 20" wheels in favor of some 18" or so with lower profile tires. Call it the Chevy Thunder, and price it at ~$35k. Most of the parts are parts-bin type of stuff and relatively little engineering would have to go into it (the blown motor would require some engineering/strengthening as well as emissions certification, and of course a tuning program would need to be developed), so I'm sure that it could be done for that price and still turn a profit.

Something like that would do a HELL of a lot more for the company's image than some piece of **** like the SSR.
