Stock retainers are fine. I used wooden dowel rods to make sure the lifters didn't fall.

Thanks for the info. I love a good write up. What would I do without the internet?

Dammit! My Cam kit is on backorder, my TC hasn't shipped yet and I haven't heard anything from LPP about my headers. Looks like its going to be a while before I get to play with my new toys.

what was the most common method for holding the valves up during the spring change?
Its easy to line them up, just connect the dots lol. If your off, you will be way off. The easiest way to swap the springs IMO is to pressurize the cylinder with an air hose. I set the regulator to 70psi and it worked great. You can also roll each piston to TDC as you go to hold them up.
Another helpful tip would be using a magnet to pull the locks when you compress the springs and then putting a dab of grease on them to hold them in place when your putting them back on.

Loctite the bolts for your cam retainer, cam sprocket, and oil pump. I use the blue so that they're removeable should you ever need to.

Great! Keep the tips coming. Looks like I'll have some time to read up before I get to do the install. My converter did ship today though, so thats cool.

My Cam Kit will be here tomorrow! My TC will be here today and my headers will be here on Monday. So far customer service from LPP, Circle D and Thunder Racing has been excellent! All have returned my emails with tracking numbers.

Im very interested to see how this turns out. Make sure you take lots of pics.

Are you going to get any before and after numbers or times?

I kind of blew all my money on the parts so theres nothing left for dyno time. I've never been to one before so probably no before numbers. I could, however, do some logs with HP Tuners which could be somewhat telling. I'll be doing the install next weekend. I'd do it this weekend but the headers won't be here yet. Looks like everything else wil be here today or tomorrow. I will try to get as many pics as I can. You know how it is though. Your hands get busy and dirty and you're on a deadline and it gets hard to take picks. But I'll try.
