Default New Tires

Just ordered some 285/75/R16s Nitto Grappler AT's for my GMC. Just wanted to see who's running them and weather you like them, mileage you got out of them and how much your speedo is off now? Thanks guys!!

i got the 265s. they look great and are good handling. traction is ok too. however, my shop inflated mine to 55+psi the dumb asses, and when i took it too the track, i toasted most of the center rubber on the rear tires, the front tires still look new. about 15000 miles on them so far.

Depends on the rating on your tire. My 285/75/16 Goodyear AT/S are rated pretty high (65psi?) and run about 50psi or something close to that (have not had em on the truck in a year). I accidentaly got the high load rating tires though. Maybe he mistook yours for a higher rating?

true and I would say that some of that rest's on bigguy too because your tire pressure for lauches is one of the most vital keys to a good 60!!

I just put that exact(285) tire on last week. Those 8ply tires are alot heavier than the stock 265 tires that were on there. My speedo is off by only about 1-2mph, so it didn't affect that much. I did notice a loss in power when taking off. You can definatly feel the extra weight of the tires taking into effect. So far they ride pretty quite but a little stiffer. I'm aird them up to 35psi and after driving a little bit I could notice the center section was only getting dirty, so I aired them down to 32psi.
BTW, where about in WI do you live?

Near Madison, how long have you had them down to 32 psi and is the tire using more of the tread now or is it still in the middle of the tire?

I live in between you guys in Newville. I have the 285 Dueler AT's on my HD and they are junk now at 21,000 miles. The outer edges wore bad when the tires were at 30 lbs and the inner wore out at 50lbs, so I guess the best psi for those would be 40ish. I don't know what I am going to get now. Mine are junk and I have to do something before winter. I might try the Deuler AT Revo's, but I ain't sure yet. Where did you guys get your tires at? How much are they?

I order mine thru discount tire direct via COD for $550 Why go with the dueler's again if they are junk. I was going to go with either the grappler's or the yoko geolanders. Something that has some what of an aggressive tread and yet good road behavior and minimal noise!
