With the weight reduction my truck has run a best of 14.30 in the quarter on the 20" wheels. I need to pick up another 25 HP or so to get into the 13s. I have not weighed my truck like this, but I suspect it would weigh around 4900 lbs with me in it. I have weighed the truck with 16s and weight reduction and it weighs 4700 lbs with me in it. Like that I ran the 13.98. I suspect the typical curb weight on these trucks is around 5000 lbs (The SS weighs around 5200 lbs and has the AWD stuff).

I am not surprised you feel you have lost some bottom end with the freer flowing exhaust and installation of the TB spacer. Any losses on the low end as a result of the new exhaust will be more than made up for on the top end. The Helix is another story. Most on this board feel that it will not result in any measurable gains and may adversely affect performance. Pull it out and see if you can tell a difference.

native, i have a question! does superchip microtuner reduce any tm & if so how much? it feels like it takes some away, but 1-2 shift is pretty hard then it feels as if falls on its face ,then starts building rpm's again theres got to be some room for improvement. any help would be appreciated, thanks badblack04

I don't think the superchips would remove any torque management from the tuning. GM put it in there to "prolong the life of our transmissions", so guys like Superchips or Hypertech would be apprehensive to remove it. If they did remove some, I bet it would be less than a 25% removal. This is just my thoughts.

The 1-2 shift can really be firmed by by simply raising the fluid pressures in the tranny. There are also some shift duration settings it may have changed as well to make it a little more crisp.

As for falling on its face after the 1-2. It could be a number of things including TM. I'm afraid only a custom tune will address most of those things. You could try raising your shift points up, but on my truck it created this unbearable pause in the WOT shifts above 6000 rpm. Some folks experience this and some don't. I'm counting on the installation of new servos and servo pin to fix this. I hope this helps you.

I thought that GM used torque management so the transmission shifter smoother (comfort) and faster, firmer shifts were actually better for the transmission. I'm sure there are limitations to how "firm" the shifts can be safely set with modifications.

Quicker firmer shifts are better for your tranny it extends clutch life and all that good stuff. Dont go over 85psi at idle in your tranny or you run the risk of killing silenoids. TM reduces power a little during shifts and at the same time it makes it shift softer. But the line pressure is what really makes it shift soft this is for comfort for the masses cause some crazy people dont like to get a scratch on the 1-2 shift off the chevrolet dealership. I have a totally built 60e in my truck and I have my line pressure set to about 82 and it gets a little scratch on the 1-2 with tall *** tires and 100% TM removed.
