No truck is the same. I still think you will be fine since you are currently at 94% and you have: obx headers and ory, 212/218, wheatley tuned. You already have an upgraded cam the 212/218 over stock which I don't think the last poster caught. Don't think changing out the 212/218 to a 220/220 cam will use that much more fuel. Some people worry a lot and think of the worse to come, if you are one then go ahead and upgrade to bigger injectors. Like I said if you ever do decide to upgrade again in the future you will already be set if you go for bigger injectors now. BTW I know you probably know, but you will have to get wheatley to retune your pcm for the new injectors too. No biggie though as it will all be done at the same time because you are wanting to change cams anyhow.

yea i was just thinking of how to get the retune? can i install them and go get the tune changed for them or does the tune have to be changed first? does this cam seem like a worth while upgrade over my 212/218. what kind of power are you making with yours?
I appreciate all the help

Oh btw is your 2006 crew cab flex fuel? If so the flex fuel trucks have the bigger injectors I believe they are 33lb and all the regular trucks were 24lb.

Yeah do that then, you are gonna have wheatly retune your pcm anyhow like stated so go ahead and buy the injectors and have him retune for that also.

Well I wouldn't drive the truck with the new 8.1 injectors without having the pcm retuned, its not gonna run right and get correct fuel..(going to dump 2x the fuel) You will have to probably drive your truck to him to have it retuned or send it via mail but you will be without your truck if you do that. If you drive it to him, maybe he can install the injectors for you or hell install them yourself outside of his building.. Or you can use a trailer to take it to his shop.

You have a point, you might decide to go 1 step bigger than a 220/220 cam. You will have plenty of room with the new 8.1 injectors. You do have a CC though and a 2800 stall so don't go too big on the cam. Try calling TSP and see what they recommend with your setup or call the guys at EPS for a custom cam also.

Did my bro's truck with a tsp220 and lt's and had it shifting at 6500. With the stock injectors he was at like 102% duty cycle. You might be ok if you shifted at 6k, but thats a waste with that cam. And definitely dont run it without getting it tuned for other injectors.

i dont see much gain swapin to a 220 cam from the 212/218
212/218 has all the lowend power to move the crewcab
Now put a bigger cam and move the powerband up in the rpm some i think the crewcab will be lazy down low

so do you think only planning to go as big as a 220 cam it isnt a worth while swap for me? and iv also read of losing power on a mild 5.3 with the tbss intake thats why i backed out of that before.

Every engine is different. Is your tune mail order or live? Mine is live and therefore right on the money for my truck. IMO you can't get full potential from your setup with a mail order tune. Not saying anything is wrong with a mail order tune at all because some people don't have access to getting a live tune. When we re-tuned after my cam swap the injectors were maxed so we set my shift points at 5500 because beyond that the stock injectors were not supplying adequate amount of fuel.

On the cam swap deal, I wouldn't think you would see much gains from the tr220 over what you have now but I do think you would see sufficient gains from the tsp220 due to the higher lift.

I just swapped in a 219/227 607/614 lsr cam and it is night and day over the tr220 but requires atleast a 3200+ converter.
