nitrous questions

Oh yeah...at this point in the game it may be smart to begin a 4L60E fund and just go with a mild cam (214/220 .520/.540 114LSA) with some 1.8:1 rockers. that way you'll always have the power there just more of it...more to think about.
A properly setup nitrous setup isn't cheap. $500 for the kit, $300 for an opener and warner, needs a guage, timing box, etc. Just not too practical $$$ wise at this point it seems.

Yeah, I planned on spending at least $1000 for all the stuff mensioned above and then guages and such. I'm starting to think the risk and cost isn't worth it for only a 50 shot.
I dont know the first thing about which cam to get....would that be just as harsh on my tranny as the n2o? how much horsepower / et reduction do people usually see with a cam? What is the cost and would it void the warranty ? (nitrous can be uninstalled.....but a cam is a bit harder to cover up......or am I wrong? ) Is there a common cam people get that is not overboard but could get me some very noticeable gains?

That cam I mentioned is a nice piece, pretty good street cam. Cam will add less power than nitrous but it will always be on tap...bottles run out and $3-4/lb sucks. That 214/220 will pull all the way to 6000rpms instead of just revving up higher like the stocker does...stock falls off badly around 5300rpms. Tiburon just got a similar cam the 212/218, he's gonna install it pretty soon...
Yeah it sure would void the warranty, you are opening up the motor! I can't say exactly how much faster you will be but maybe .2-.4 depending on the cam size. 20-30rwhp maybe. Depends on mods going into it.
Could you tell that it has a cam? Well if you came to my dealership I can tell what a cam sounds like and I'd tell you that your motor/trans/rearend warranty was void...depends on who you know and where you are taking it.

for about $50 you can get a time delay realy that will allow you to not spray at all during the shift. you would want an "on dealy" time delay realy for that. i havn't looked real close at these but the idea is the window switch shuts off the nitrous at 5600, you shift at 5800, as it is shifting and the rpms come down it will turn power back on to the realy when it gets under 5600 but since it is a time delay it will add a specified amount of time before it actualy comes on. you would have to find a relay that allows times in the .1 to .5sec range. i am not 100% sure they make what you would need but it sure seems like they would. >> http://www.precisiontimer.com/solid.html
