that's what we were looking for but time and tools were against us. From what we could see, the flex plate "looked" solid, but like you said if its a crack around the bolt holes then pulling the trans is the next step.

I had a seemingly random knock. Turned out I had cracked a ringland on one of the rearmost pistons. Held for quite a bit until it finally gave out. Hope this isn't your issue tho.
