Off Road Y-Pipe Leaks

Off Road Y-Pipe Leaks
I've had constant exhaust leak problems with my Pace Setter LT's and Pace Setter Off Road Y-Pipe. Has any had problems with leaking around the flange and Y-Pipe connection where the band clamps are? I've had constant leakes and can't seem to pin point my problem.

Go get some new SS band clamps from NAPA and some copper rtv. Put the RTV around the slip couplers joints and put the new band clamps on. Let the RTV setup and you should be good to go. The SS band clamps are a one time use item. Once you tighten them once and they form fit, if you take them loose, they will never form fit right again and will leak.

What KB said. Lay under the truck with it running, have some one block the exhaust, that way you will be able to hear where the leak is. They should be noticeable with sooty looking areas around the leak

Funny enough that's exactly what the guy did without calling me, so oh well at this point. When my original exhaust guy installed the system he mushroomed the tips of the Y-Pipe with the clamps so over time they got worse. I was going to try and avoid welding by trying to have the Y-Pipe straightened but he solved that problem by welding before asking me first.
In the end the new exhaust is awsome, quiet and my low end power is wwaayyy better as well as my idle. Best mod I've made since the header install with the cam upgrade. I installed the Dynomax 3in single turbo style muffler system. Nice deep tone

So I remove my y pipe once its gonna leak when I put it back on? That is ****. Uhh I guess its V bands everywhere then? Only think I don't like about them is its a little harder for one guy to install the y pipe vs the band clamps....
