Oh my, I think I've made a mistake >.>
I've been lurking around cam threads for a while and think I may have screwed up. I have a Comp 218/224 and 918 beehives in my Vortec 5700 L31. I uh. . .I also have STOCK push rods. I know, it's a bad idea, that I've just recently realized
So 2 questions, what's a good brand/type of push rod to go with and,
What is my standard push rod length?
I wanna get this thing dialed in and running right
edit: The heads are stock height, no milling.

so am I looking for a 7.1 push rod?
I wish I had done as much research on push rods as I did on springs and cams and all the other valve train stuff, now I just feel dumb lol

Did you pull the heads? On vortec heads you have to cut the guides to have anything over .460 lift. Also your press-in studs arnt going to like the pressure from those 918's. You dont have to cut the seats for the 918's but you will kill your seals in no time at all.
As for push rods stockers will work fine as long as you are not using guide plates. A cheap fix are 92-95 stock LT1 push rods as they are hardened.
and those vortecs will like that cc502, pulls hard down low to 6 or so

But Gen1 SBC stuff is totally different. In many cases the pushrods actually contact the head which puts added pressure on the pushrods. The heads actually guide the pushrod and help to hold it in place.
