I've had my Gen1 up around 260-270 degrees and it still runs fine. The radiator fins and headers where completely covered in mud so it couldn't cool down.

In the future, Break the glass SOONER just to be safe.

Just monitor your cooling and oil level. The plastic fitting on my heater core broke, my truck overheated and it went into reduced power. After that it started needing a little coolant added every week until three months ago when the oil looked like frapucino.I could have fixed it but I just wanted to see how long it would last. I almost got a year out of it (11/21/07 - 11/18/08). I had a spare engine though.

you need to get air moving across the radiator, driving it around would have been the best option IMO. when you shut it off, you get "hot soak". since there is absolutely NO circulation, it boils over thats when you get the coolant pissing out everywhere.

i honestly think its gonna be just fine. the reason for the reduced power mode is so you DONT cook your engine. i dont see how it could have done any major damage.

if i saw my coolant gauge peg, i wouldve wrapped a towel around my hand and punched through the window. windows are cheaper than motors and cooling system repairs.

a little update...

i stopped by the mechanic where the truck is at. the window still hasn't been replaced (should be tomorrow morning), but while there the mechanic and i looked under the hood at the fan harness and relays. he was testing the AC wire instead of the PCM wire. turns out the PCM wire is corroded right through and is broke in half. no wonder my fans didn't turn on... at least it's an easy fix.

$25 window from the junk yard or $500 motor from the junk yard. Seems like a simple conclusion to me. Been there done that, bought another window.

I'm a little late for this party, but you should at least change your oil.
