The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) system is designed to remove moisture and vapors that cause contamination in the engine oil. When it pulls from the engine it has a tendency to also suck some oil which gets burned in the combustion process. This increases the potential for detonation.
if you guys take the throttle body off and shine a light in the intake manifold you'll be freaked out at the amount of oil coating it..
the connections go from the driver side rear valve cover to the top of the intake.

I have an AMW catch can that I bought before the price on them became ridiculous, it works awesome. As mentioned above, I get about a tablespoon of oil out of it every 1k. It's mounted in-line with the hose from the pcv valve to the intake...
