Would a regular old truck with no mods benefit from a catch can? Is it worth the $160?

This has been tried before and works for a little bit but the seperator element clogs. It is designed for water.

My home made one only went about 2k before it started sucking oil through...didn't even make it to the first oil change. My AMW catch can has been flawless so far.

That's the exact same setup I had that sucked oil through...I even used the same write-up. The first few weeks it filled up very quickly, then the level stopped rising

I think the noise has to do with combining the AMW catch can with the new style fixed orifice PCV...it works, but it whistles. Don't think it's a problem, more of a characteristic. When I switched back to the original style spring and plunger PCV, my whistle noise went away. I drain the AMW every oil change, and mid-way between, and I often check the vacuum line from the can to the intake, and so far the line has been dry, so this is the setup I've been using since it's both quiet and works for me.

I tried the homemade setup with the fixed orifice PCV, and unfortunately for me, it was not effective. The reservoir filled up to about a tablespoon or so, then that was it. When I pulled the hose from the seperator to the intake, it was saturated with oil. I guess not all engines will react the same way...different brand oils may have something to do with it also?? (I use Mobil1 10w-30)
