Default Which oil to use

I was wondering what is a good weight of oil to use. I have a 5.3L w/true duals and I live in the south where it is hot most of the year. From what I understand, 5w-30, what I'm running now, is good for cold weather. I was wondering if it would be beneficial to switch to a heavier oil. Please let me know.

Thanks,
John

I use 10w30 during the hot months and 5w30 during the cold months.

I use Mobil 5w30syn in the winter and the 15w50syn(perfomance driving formula)in the summer. 15w50 seems a little thick when you hear it but since its fully synthetic and it flows very easily.

exactly what he said, and with the thicker oil you wont have any problems burning oil. i ran 15/50 all last year, i'm gonna go to 5/30 this winter just for the hell of it though, probably around november since it's so warm most of the year down here anyways, and back to 15/50 around march.
