Its not a "truck -vs- F-body" debate when it comes to input shafts, its "GenI/GenII -vs- GenIII"
Trucks and F-bodies w/ the GenIII engines (4.8, 5.3, 5.7 and 6.0) use an input shaft thats wider at the top, a 300mm converter, longer stator shaft and a specific bellhousing.
Trucks and F-bodies w/ GenI/GenII engines (4.3, 5.0, 5.7-R/P) use the older input shaft, 298mm converter, shorter stator shaft, and a different bellhousing then the GenIII

sry for the misinformation. i thought thats what mike kurtz at century told me when my tranny took a **** and i had a 4l60e out of a truck in my garage. he told me the vettes and the trucks had a different input than the f bodies.

'98 and later trucks had the 2-piece case like the LS1 cars, but if it came with a 4.3L, 5.0L or 5.7L (VIN R), then it had the older "small tip" input shaft and won't work, so he is right. But if its a '99 or later (which was when the GenIII engines were offered in the trucks) and has the 4.8L, 5.3L or 6.0L, then yes, it will work.
