Default Ok, I am trying to get this straight...

I know that all the LS motors are built on very similar architecture, but now I am starting a build (6 months out) on a 408. (most likely)

I am starting with a GM 6L block and I want to put L92 heads on it. Will that work? Then comes the intake. I am not looking for a HP #, I want TQ. What truck intake choices do I have that will be functional with the L92 heads? (it will eventually get replaced with a maggie). All that being said, this will be replacing a 5.3 in an 02 z71. Is it possible to get the 6.0/L92 combo to work with all the sensors and PCM from an 02? I want to reuse all the sensors and PCM to keep the cost down.

Like I said, I have gotten a bit confused recently with what parts work with each other, so if I have something wrong, please point me in the right direction.

Yes the L92 heads will fit on the 6.0 but you have to use either the L92 or L76 intake manifolds

if you're using a 99-06 block, all the plug-ins for the sensors are at the same points. Meaning oil, temp, knock, crank, cam sensors are still in the same positions. Now if you went with a 402 (LS2) block, then the knock sensors are in a different position, . . . they're on the sides vs being on the tops.

99-03 blocks have long head bolts, 04-06 and up have the short bolts

does that mean that I have to install shorter head bolts for the l92 heads to work?

the heads are universal . . . they'll fit any LSx block. . . it's just the BLOCK that takes different bolts. Order/buy bolts per year of the block. Unsure still . . . there's a s/n on the block, give that number to a dealer and they can tell you what year block it is.

Why do you say that? In your opinion, whats a better suited combo? (not challenging you, i am really looking for info)

My thought process is big displacement motor and good flowing heads = good #"s. I know thats not always the case, but its a good place to starts, i suppose.

I think Quick is saying that b/c he had a 408 with the L92s. I dont think he was very impressed with the combo. You might want to contact Richard at WCCH. He will lead you in the right direction, as far as Heads, cams, and flow questions.
