ok no more 6.0 for me. need a new cam for the 5.3 (big tex, anyone else)

Ok, Maybe I should say something here. I've got a Comp 222/224 .566 .568 112LSA and it pulled my 4000 lb. boat and me plus two other people at 80MPH w/ no problem, but this was on a stock stall in a 5.3L , but also w/ 3.42 gears. And had NO problem starting out and getting up to speed. This was coming from a LS1 cam 198/209 .500 .500 119.5LSA which also pulled w/ no problem. Am I missing something here or do I just have a freak truck that likes to pull just about anything. The boat is a center console w/ tall windshield that acts like an airbrake at about 60 MPH and up. This truck would always pull fine but the piece-o-**** F150 that my wife used to have and my buddies truck also a F150 use to catch some serious hell trying to maintain speed above 65 in OD. My wifes w/ a V8 and my buds was a V6, wife had 3.55 rear not sure on buds truck. So WTF ??? I say run it and see if you can tell the difference...Zed
Oh, and let the flamming begin. But in my defense, the wife bought her truck while I was out fishing one day. She happily drives a Chevy Trailblazer now. Just wish I could get the stall out w/o her knowing Hahaha...LOL

some more reasons i am sorta going againt the 6.0 is the cost of the motor, amount of miles i put on the truck in a year (10,000), the increased gas prices, my heavey foot, and my trans and rearend.
im also thinking about just calling my truck done after the cam, and some n20.
i would rather put my money into a new quad, becuase i use that more in nice weather then i do the truck.

His truck weighs about 5300 Lbs with him in it,whats the weight of a RCSB? his truck has taller tires what RPM does are you turning at 80 MPH?These Gen3 motors have a wide TQ band with just about any cam.When you put a cam that you lose bottom end,it really effects a heavy truck

That is a lot of cam for a 5.3 and it will take some tuning ,towing wont be that great especially if you have a 3k stall,your mileage would be less and power down compaired to a 6.0 with a more mild cam.If your going to keep the 5.3 find a compromise for your needs cam& stall.like the little cam Tex mentioned.One problem with a big cam little motor and big truck,sure it might make 30 more HP on the dyno and it pulls hard after 4K RPM,you drop enough TQ down low your times now takes 2 seconds longer to get to the powerband and so you pick up 2 seconds on the top end,So now you are flush.I know this may sound like an exaggeration but just trying to get some kind of picture of the meaning compromise

If you've already got the higher stall in there I would put the cam in and just make shore youve got adequate cooling.
Thats why you stall higher for a larger cam it puts it right in the power range, cruising at highway speeds running around 2k you would probably see more power than a stock cam that cam starts at what? about 1500 rpm I think you'll be fine people have done it before, just have to watch for excessive tranny temps. storm 5.3 is an example of that and hes running a huge cam.
I know with my 5.3 and a 222/222 Ive got more power at 2k rpms than with stock I cruise around in OD alot better than stock, even up steep hills with cruise set it rarely upshifts.
