If your goals were to make awesome torque get good mileage tow like a bastard then a 6.0 with a cam near 216 or 218/550 114LC
This should drop 1 second in the 1/4 pick up 8-10MPH and not lose mileage.I get better mileage than you but so did my 5.3 before the swap.(when trying to get mileage)

well i just recently put my cam in 223 225 564 571 114+3 and have no problem with going up the big *** bridge everyday at 80 mph and 3k rpms and my truck weighs in at 4550. Before cam i was getting 470 to 500 on the open hwy with tailgate down, i will find out saturday when i drive to san antonio round trip and see what i get. this cam is awsome baby lol
But your cam you have now is perfect for the 5.3 put it in there and you wont notice the bottomend loss as much as you think. Your stock stall might stall higher lol.

Get the 6.0L, I think your mileage will increase too. I went from 14.5-14.7mpg mixed driving and 16 mpg on a long highway trip (at 80mph) with my 5.3L 212/218 comp cam and stock stall, to 14.2-15mpg mixed driving and 18mpg highway with the 6.0L and TB stall. I think the only reason my mileage dropped a tiny bit is because the engine revs higher with the TB stall. But with the 6.0L's torque, the transmission stays in OD and TCC locked 99% of the time, unlike a cammed 5.3L where you have to downshift to 3rd gear at the smallest grade.

The 5.3 in a RCSB has awesome potential.I have yet to see a N/A XC4x 5.3 with bolt-ons or H&C have great driveability& reliability and get good mileage and also run low-mid 14s.Plus tow like a bastard.Good LQ4s can be had for $1200,Its like why re-invent the wheel? Then again if you are "looking for a challenge",go ahead and try.

its going to take alot more than 1mpg increase to justify a swap and the added cost it just doesnt add up. If power was the goal it would be different, I think hes more concerned with saving money.
Make the best with what you got at your disposal or have funds for either of those stalls and the cam you have will make a huge difference in your truck with good tuning enjoy it.
