I am going to build another 1000hp twin turbo setup using an LS platform. I told myself if I did it again I was going to do it for mileage also...
So... what year and model would you start with, should it use AFM, VVT, DOD, etc? (It has to be a newer aluminum block version, not iron)
I am going to be using a 6l80e 6 speed trans so it must be ECM compatable to work with the T43 TCM in the trans...
What do you think?? If you had a choice to start with a certain year, or model 5.3, which one would you choose and why?

A 5.3 gets more mileage then a 5.7, 6.0, 6.2. I can always make the power I need with boost, but I cant get better mileage unless I start with a small motor. 5.3 will be a great foundation...

i really dont understand how anyone can say the 5.3 wont last long with 1000 horse... as long as you are smart about your boost and have everything properly setup IE alky, timing and total tune, nicely built bottom end, and keep your oil changed regularly... it should last just as long as a 5.7, 6.0, 6.2 blah blah blah... hell even a 4.8... they are all the same type of block design...
