Default OK-Is there a 4l65E tranny/convertor combo out there that can survive?

This would be for my 01 gmc C3. I've rebuilt this tranny 3 times, and it's still slipping. I've got a 2400 hughes stall convertor with it.

Truck currently now has a single turbo, and tuned to only run 500+ horses, but is capable of 650+ with race gas and different tune.

Is there anyone out there putting together one of these trannies that can hold up to the regular use of 500 ponies, and the occasional blast down the track with 650 or so? Thx!

Unfortunately, the C3 comes in awd, which does'nt convert well (or at all?) to 4l80e.

Joe at JAG Performance might be able to help you out. He builds a pretty nice 65E. Lot of SSS guys are running his trannys behind some high HP motors and doing great.

I had mine built at Eagle Trans. in Plano, Texas. Had all the goodies put in and so far so good. Trans. tuning is important and I think alot of people overlook that.

I've got a FLP as well. Chuck stands behind his products.

Chuck Johnson at Finish Line Transmissions (make sure you talk to Chuck and tell him you are shooting for 650, etc.) can hook you up. I'm still running a 65E and AWD

Chuck's # 630-350-7776

Mine is still officially an R&D effort, but I feel pretty good about the current version -- it's a daily driver that sits in traffic during the FL heat, and handles 600awhp and more (dyno run was aborted due to setting stuff on fire . )
