still not quite ready to mash the pedal yet.
I need a few more heat cycles, and I will feel more comfortable.
but just drivng like a normal person(lol) it gets up and moves pretty quick. I have noticed that I get up to speed a bit quicker , and run thru the gears faster. I havnt had it over 4,000 rpms yet. And I am still hunting for the ticking noise.
It hasnt resurfaced since Sunday night. so I dont know.
( it's got me a tad bit worried)

Did you replace the lifters when you did this? It may have been a lifter that wasn't primed up. If that's the case, I wouldn't worry about it since it's fixed now.

You should have some more mail this evening.

If it's like the 03's ... drop the crossmember in the front and the oil pan is right there at you. 2 bell housing bolts, 2 in the front cover and the rest on the perimeter of the pan I think. You should be able to get to all the bolts by dropping the pan. In theory ... it shouldn't be to hard. I would be a little weary of spinning it up as high as that cam prolly going to want to pull until you do that. I would imagine that cam's going to want to spin all the way up to 7k at least.

When/if you pull the heads to swap lifters out .. I would consider getting yours milled at the very least and maybe a valve job too. That should run you in the 150-200 range I would think. Yu might consider buying a used set of 5.3 heads and have it done to them and swap them instead of having as much down time gettting yours worked on. Then you cold turn around and sell yours for what you got the others for. They should go for around 200, 250 if you get lucky.

but doesnt the heads need to be matched to my block?
to fit perfectly?
this is the way I have been brought up, I didnt think you could just put another set of heads on there with out having them match the deck of the block.

200 to get headwork done????????
where is this place, I was thinking more along the lines of $1200, but if it's that cheap hell I know what I am doing next.

I have never heard of having matched heads ... that's a new one to me, but I won't say it shouldn't be done.

I want to say the guy I'm taking my heads to is charging me less than 200 to do a valve job and pressure check them. I didn't think that was to bad. I forgot to ask him about o-ringing them though.
