Thats how mine was, broken at the top of the coil and looked like it had been that way for a while.

My batch # is 26991 and I can't locate the date code on the box. Chris at comp told me this batch was not on the defective list. They do have the blue stripe on them and this does cause me concern since most if not all of the defective ones have the blue stripe marker on them.

Evil, get a hold of them again.

Anyone answer me this. New in the box( unopened). Before opening, the best way is to call Comp to see if they're 1 of the bad batches right? I have batch #25384 if it helps. Does that mean since my batch # is lower than Doobie's, I've got ? Yes, I've had them a while.

5 min. after I wrote this, I called & spoke w/ them in 10 min. Good news/ bad news. The Comp Cam I've had prior to Radix purchase but not yet installed will work for me, w/ the Radix.

Bad news, I'm waitin for callback on springs & warranty.

Is it true that the defective springs were subcontract manufactured by a plant in Mexico? I think I've read that in a couple of threads. J/W because my box clearly says "American Made" with a picture of the USA flag.

Fast, do you see a date code in small print above the word "batch?" That would be helpful while you wait for the word from Comp.

BTW even the new silver springs have been breaking, so I wouldn't take a chance dude.

Here's the deal. They were subcontracted. Where, I didn't ask.

I just got off phone w/ Red. He told me about that date code. He said I should be good to go. But if I felt uneasy, he'd do that credit card (core) if u will, til he gets mine. Yes, I know someone had said this.

Mine were made on 96th day in 04. If y'all have springs made from Nov. 05 - about Jun/ July 07, those were from bad batches. He also mentioned something like, IIRC, by Nov 07 it was totally done. After defective ones, thay then went to a new vendor. He said the new ones( satin silver in color) have had a few bad ones, bad all indications are, they're ok.

The older ones are good to .600" - blue stripe
... new ones .... to .625 - satin silver

I had a broken one on each head.

Mine were batch 049045.

Also, look above the word batch for the code date. Mine were made on the 154th day of 2006.

Post up your numbers for comparison.

Please take the time to check the springs and let me know what you find. 30 minutes to check is much better than the 20+ hours I spent repairing mine.
I'm w/ Cash Dude. If they're already installed, what's a little time now vs a whole later, plus more grief if it costs more due to any possible further damages?

Hey Mangled, did you check the springs?

Even if they broke within the first hour, they could last 1000's of miles before the retainer finally shifts and the valve drops. I bet mine were broken for a good while. I wish I hadn't been too lazy to check :-(
