Default "Old man" tranny setup?

Guys,

I'm looking to start building from the bottom, up. Until it dies, I'd just like to go over the tranny with the usual stuff. TransGo and servo(s).

I don't want any HARD shifts, just QUICK shifts. Oddly enough, I'm pretty happy with the shift firmness of the stock setup. The SS has a pretty quick shift already.

The most mods the truck will see for a few years, will be a 2600 stall, mild cam, and usual bolt ons like headers and fans. The truck will definitely see track use. It'll also tow a larger camper, and haul all kinds of stuff around.

As a baseline, I'm thinking of putting in a TransGo with NO washers on the 1-2 accumulator, and a Corvette servo.

Would it be worthwhile to go with a intermediate billet servo for it's holding power, or would that turn things too harsh?

How about the overdrive billet servo? I heard these are really only good for people doing high-speed runs in 4th/lockup. Would this be a good match for the feel of a Corvette servo, or is it stronger like the other billet?

Thanks,

The billets are over kill unless you are in the 500HP,that is my personal opinion, you should do a vette servo first without the SK,cheap and easy mod, that is how mine is now,i will crack into it someday.Add the SK if you think you need it.I am going to try a superiour trans kit, they have a late model kit just hitting the market.Imay go for a 4th servo, because i do tow, although it come out of fourth with just a little throttle pressure with a trailer on.

I would go with your original plan. When you do the shift kit though .... drill the smallest holes they recommend in the seperator plate. If you do a lot of towing, I'd get the vette intermediate servo and a billet OD servo. That would be a nice combo there, it should take the mush out of the 3-4 shift.
