Default one of my 02 sensors was damaged can I repair?

One of the harnesses on my 02 sensor got damaged and was throwing a code. 2 of the black wires got broken while installing my headers somehow. Can I connect them back together or just buy a new sensor? It's a clean brake on the wires. Also, are the 2 wires interchangable, I'm assuming they are both grounds???

probably no harm in the interchangable part. One is case ground and the other is low reference. I would try to figure out which is which if it was me.

With that said, I jut solder the wires bak together. Heat shrink, tape up and and walk away.

Actually you are not supposed to something with the resistance when the sensor is made is calibrated to it.

You can try it if it does not work you are not out much but your time.

dude its a damn wire... connect them back together and be done with it

Common myth. As long as the connection is good and solid, in most cases it's better the wire itself. I had to prove this Hughes Network when we put new generators for their back up systems. Besides, the o2 is using voltage to (o to 1 volt) to "talk".

But if soldering doesn't cut it...oh well, you are ONLY out your time.

What about the melted solder and the electricity you used in the solder gun? Can't get that back....

LOL, i tell ya what, if it doesn't work because the soldered joint (and it was a good soldered joint) I'll mail him a piece of solder, a "booger" of flux, and an undischarged capacitor(if there is such a thing) LOL

As long as you splice the two existing wires together you'll be fine. I've actually experimented on a friends ride with wiring extensions to his O2's when he installed LT headers and found out that the O2's can act very funny depending on the wire used, especially when its an extremely low resistance wire like that used in multimeter probes.

Actually per GM, you are not supposed to splice or repair O2 wiring. Any corrosion from improper sealing will affect readings, as well as poor splicing. Now with that said, do what you want, it's your truck.
