Open Headers Drop Hp?

Default Open Headers Drop Hp?

If i leave my truck with an open y pipe will my hp drop?

I am running a open Y pipe, it def has pep, didn't lose anything, then again if your stock it might.. BTW it is annoyingly loud.. I can't wait till the pipes go back on

I usually gain 2/10s at the track with them open, so I would have to say I didnt loose any.

i think you lose some down low but gain some mid-top end

we dynoed an '09 with open Y-pipe and were getting 342hp before the driveshaft broke @ 5252... installed a new drvieshaft and exhaust and we ended up with 345hp @ 6k rpm...

Cutouts are shown to gain up top, a camaro we dynoed gained 20whp from opening it up..

Not on my 6 liter I didn't. It loves to breathe. In my experience the more free flowing the exhaust the better. It's all about finding the perfect match of exhaust velocity and flow. The only way you'll lose power is if you slow down the exhaust velocity or dont merge the exhaust gasses from each side

what you lose you will gain up top, however I have seen dyno's where overall you gain 3HP is it worth it? thats up to you
