So is the 408ci for you, or for the wife?
I love my wife with all that I am, and it's because I love her that I wouldn't feel comfortable giving her the keys to a 500+ horsepower mini-SUV as her daily driver. Are you certain your wife can handle it? Your ultimate goal, regardless of engine displacement, should be nothing less than putting her in a vehicle that you have the utmost confidence in. That means nothing breaking, always reliable and easy for her to drive. Are you building that?

Wonderful to hear then. As long as you feel confident, that's all that matters. Weak points will be the 4L60E, rear end and keeping the thing cool under hard towing in such a small engine compartment. Perhaps look into the addition of an oil cooler found on the HD 6.0L trucks and vans.

I have an extra if you need one. PM me if you're interested.
Working harder? I don't think so; it'll probably require a good deal less TPS to do the same job as the 5.3L. Read up a bit on the relationship between horsepower and thermal management, though your wife's Trailblazer has the same radiator as the SS which has been proven to cool boosted LS2's so I don't know where the limit is on your cooling system. .
For now, keep it cool.
I don't see the engine working any harder than the 5.3 though.

They're not much. Good insurance in my opinion for a cramped engine bay...even if this one seems large.

I understand the need for more power, But I can't see the extra cost for the 408 for a daily driver... You don't think a fresh 6.0 with Flat tops, a nice cam and a stall will be enough??? Not trying to Bash but Just curious. Either way I feel real bad for that poor transmission....
