Opinions wanted Re: possible mods to my truck
Since you guys have been modding the trucks for awhile (while I have been mainly concentrating my efforts on the LS1/6) I figured that I'd tell ya'll my plan for my truck and get some comments:
Truck is an A4 '02 SCSB Z71 w/ the 5.3 and 3.73 gears
- Electric fans
- 180 t-stat
- UPD intake setup
- Dynatech headers/Y-pipe (w/ cats)
- ??? catback (recommendations, please?? I want something fairly quiet that isn't too terribly restrictive)
- Mild cam (leaning towards Comp 206/212 .515/.522 112 LSA)
- 1.8 rockers (leaning towards Comp Pro Magnums; will use valve cover spacers)
- LS1-edit tuning
I'm just looking for a setup that'll start nice and easy every time, not have to hunt for idle, has a less-than-bone-jarring idle in gear, and will have better mid-high range than the current (completely) stock setup. Thinking of putting (slightly) taller tires (285/75/16 vs. 265/75/16) on it and don't want the truck to get slower because of it.
I'm not trying to build a hotrod, just looking for a little more power without getting too stupid (BTW- I don't want to put a converter in it).
Thanks for any input, folks...

I suggest Corsa for the catback. I just installed mine and couldn't be happier. I have no interior noise even going 85-90mph for 2 hours to Austin. The wind noise was enough to cancel out any exhuast noise, but open the windows and you can hear it nice and clear. They are also straight through design with only a few small (.5") holes in the muffler section.
I believe he is referring to the supermaxx headers, which are the same as the Dynatech sinc ethey makes them, so they will be long tube.
