sounds like one of these http://www.ls1speed.com/catagory.cfm?catagory=trans trannys will get an f body into the 10's easy, acounting for the extra weight it should hold for me into the 12's since i am not yet into the 13's it should leave a little room for improvements(NOS). the speed inc people told me they will warranty their tranny for 6months no matter what you do to it other than over heat it, i asked what if i put 1000hp to it and he said they will fix it. sounds like i should hit it with the nitrous before the 6months are up just to see if it will hold. can't wait for the "firm, fast" shifts.
also just put a big *** tranny cooler on the truck. 10" x 20" x 3/4", maybe i should have done that before the tranny went bad.

Transmission coolers kick ***. What brand did you get? I got the Hayden Rapid Cool. It sounds like yours is a little bigger though.

I'm i the same boat looking for a tranny that will hold my level of power
transmission are like Vodoo to me
did you use the existing cooler lines or install new lines?
I noticed with my ASM headers that the tranny lines are really close to the headers so when i get my trans redone new lines and a HUGE cooler go in
What parts fail in our transmissions ?

i got the flexalite from summit, it is rated at 26,000GVW, it is huge and was a little tricky to mount. can a cooler be too big? what happens in the winter when it is 0deg out or even colder?
i ran a 14.05 with really soft shifts, less than 5psi, on a 75deg day. 1/2 a tank of gas, no weight reduction, stock shift points. fix all that and a 6psi pully, hmm, can't wait.

parish8 - In the winter if the trans. temp. stays below like 160 then just tape a piece of cardboard over part of the cooler. That should help regulate the temp. some.
I've talked to Chuck at FLP before and he is very confident in his trans. He has built them for some high power Impala SS's that weigh the same as our trucks(RCSB) and has had good results.
Just about all the hard parts in the trans. have upgradeable components(for a price). I think the biggest problem is the clutches burning up.
GMC SKI - I replied to your FMU thread in Forced Induction. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
John
PS - I think the FLP will be the trans. I go with when I upgrade.

the tranny lines are actualy touching the header and i couldn't see anyway to fix it. to hook up the cooler i cut the rubber section out of the top line and hooked onto the factory steel lines with the suplied rubber line. why do they always give you so little hose? the first thing to go will be the 2-3shift, that is where i am at. goto that speed inc and look at the tranny for a 99 camaro and you will see what they can make for us.
to mount the cooler i took that piece of metal that runs horizonal under the hood latch and fliped it over. that made for a realitivly flat trapazoid to mount too. it seems very secure and prety much fills the space between the hood latch and the bumper. i also took off the grill so it was easy to get too, i am always amazed at how easy this truck is to work on, eveything is made for quick assembly/disasembly.
