Out with the old LS1 and in with the new LQ9
Pulled the LS1 out this weekend and swapped in a 05' LQ9 (Patriot LS6 heads w/ dual springs, ARP Mains, Katech Rod bolts, TR230, .040" Cometics). Didn't get to put on my TOG header though because my welding buddy wasn't feeling up to it this weekend.
It's about 11.5 SCR and 8.6 DCR
First I think I figured out why my LS1 was so low on power. After I took off the intake manifold, I think I drained about a 1/4 bottle of Oil out of it. Stupid PCV systems.
Anyways, the new engine runs great so far. No KR even with 89* in the tank, but I haven't gone WOT yet. Haven't been able to get on it yet due to the downpour of rain that started right after I got it fired up.
I do have one problem, the engine does not want to stay idling with the rear PCV hose connected to the valve cover. If I pull it, it will idle just fine.
I'm not sure exactly what I need to tune to fix this. I'm thinking about just replacing the setup with a old school breather setup.

I actually never had it hooked up at first, so the truck would actually idle. Afterwards I remembered that I forgot to hook it up is when I found that it would not idle after putting the pcv back on.

cograts on the swap,
as for the idle: try it again cold. last cam install I helped with was on a '04, with a "stock" tune it actually idled damn good.... for about 1-2 minutes, then it was two-foot or die. if I'm off on that account, I wonder about that vacuum pump that the 03-04 trucks have next to the brake booster, could that be interfering?
I have HP Tuners for '03 trucks, if you want to email me your tune I'll take a gander at it for you, PM me your email address

I have the idle set to 750 right now. Even with the pcv disconnected it still only idles around 750-800.
I may try to raise it more to see if I can get it to idle with the pcv hooked up.
