From a seasoned exhaust guy...my o4 has direct fit magnaflow catback with the
big muffler, single 3/3 single tail pipe, I forget the part # but it's the direct fit replacement. Of cource it makes good power but it does have some resonace that is annoying to me at 1500-2000 rpm in the cab. At rpm above 2000 it is absolutely sweet, clean, smooth deep sound, and at highway seeds.. above 65 mph it is quiet but you can still hear it but barely,
Funny thing is, some of the smaller body mufflers I have installed on other trucks are actually quieter for around town driving, meaning .. less resonance. I have actually had to install small mufflers on trucks to get the sound people want. the smaller bodies seem to have a better, cleaner flow thru, if that makes sense, and therfore less resonance but maybe more overall volume. The sound may be louder but,"quality"
may be better. It's all subjective of course but there seems to be a theme.
Maybe some of the Magnaflow guys can chime in, their experience will be vast compared to mine.
I am to the the point where it think I will put a small body on my existing pipes and make adaptors to fit it.
I had the chance to dyno my y2k 5.3 for various exhaust set ups, magnaflow make 10 rwhp above the next best...Dynomax Ultraflow.

i have a 14" case sigle in dual out quiet in cab decent outside little to no resonence and i love it. ive had flows, chambered, dynomax, stock , the chamberds sounded best (turbo tubes) just a little to loud for everyday truck but they didnt resonate like a flowmaster always will

My Flowmaster 70 series big block has absolutely zero resonance, and is almost as quiet as stock. Problem is, having a blown motor dictates that I get some more flow in order to realize the full potential of my mods. Otherwise I would be keeping the FM70.
