Default P0300 multiple cylinder misfire

We finished doing the cam today and since I didnt have my laptop we simply adjusted the idle screw on the TB to keep idle. After driving for a bit I got a few codes.
1. was the for the idle, which I expected
2. was the P0300 for multiple cylinder misfire. I tried to get some new plugs but the guy at service said that I needed to check my coilpacks since they used 2 different kinds. Im going to pick up new wires tomorrow and hope does it. What else could it be?
I havent done any tuning yet but it feels sluggish as well.

It's the cam causing the code. I have the same thing if I let mine idle for very long. Brian from pcmforless is going to open the paramiters on mine to prevent.

Anyone know what perameters need to be modified for this? Im using HPTuners. I think it still may be a good idea to change wires since my cost on them is only like $40. Is there any way to tell if it is a tuning prob or plug wires etc??

with tuners you should be able to just turn off that test.

when that code is set your converter wont lock up.

I noticed that the converter wasnt locking. I read that I could reset the perameters, but I want to make sure that it isnt something serious. Is this a common thing with larger cams?? Its only a 212/218

It's very common with aftermarket cams. Even sometimes after a performance tune.
If you want to get rid of it, simply put the value "32000" in all the cells that aren't above 32000 in the misfire tables.
You can slowly increase these values from the defaul setting until it quits setting the misfire code, but you'll probably end up around 22000 as the final value. This way if you have a serious mifire from a plug or wire, the pcm will eventually set a misfire code.

good luck,

allen

My friend put the 212/218 in his 5.3, got the same code and it was cleared up by tuning.

Thanks everyone. When I posted this the search function wasnt working. There is a ton of info about this in older threads, but I really appreciate everyones help. Im going to go ahead and replace the plug wires since they are due anyway. Guess I have to start tuning now.
