I have had the painted pacesetters on for about a year now too and they are showing a little rust... I will be having these coated or buying a coated set within the next few months. the paint peeled off the first time I started the truck with them on.... or buy the black ones and have them jet-hotted.

$560...hmm...i hate not being able to afford stuff!..stupid empty wallet.... so does anyone know if just buying the painted headers, wrapping them and spraying them will be sufficient?

Hey Dropkick, I got black painted Pacesetter LT's and I have no problem with em'. Like you, I did't want to spend the extra $200 f'n bucks for a coating. So I primered mine with Zinc-X coating (which is equal to hot dip galvanizing) and then I painted over them again with header paint. The Zinc-X acts as a zinc rich/ceramic coating so I prohibits rust for up to 2 years. It works out well for me.....I've coated and painted at least 15 sets of headers and so for no problems. You can get it at any GM dealer....the part # is 89022217

ah ok...screw that then. Is any kind of heat prevention necessary then? will power get robbed without it?
also, is the ORY pipe needed or is that just to eliminate cats? no im not very automotive intelligent and I'm just trying to figure out what my total cost would be if I put LT headers on my truck. so far it looks like $275 for the painted headers, and about $25 for the lube/zinc x. So Im at $300 plus cost of install. Anything else ill need...thanks for all the help
