Default Paging BigTex

BigTex, you seem to be "pretty" knowledgeable about cams, what do you think about
1) 208/208, .553/.553, 114 or
2) 214/208, .559/.553, 114

I have asked a couple of tuners and they seem to think I would be pretty happy with either one, what are your thoughts on them?

I wouldnt do the reverse split cam. The single 208 looks pretty good. Is this a comp grind on XE lobes?

Tell me about your truck, what mods you have or plan on having, and what you want out of a cam. I'd be happy to help.

For a normal daily driver that needs low end grunt and more top end power, go with a traditional split maybe 208 212 with comps XE lobes on a 114 LSA and 4* advance.

For something with more top end, maybe a 214 214 XE 114 LSA with either 2 or 4 degrees advance. 4 degrees will have more low end, but peak power will be slightly higher with the +2 cam.

An important thing in choosing a cam is to play it to your needs and mods. If you plan on a power adder, exhaust duration should be higher than the intake. For small amounts of nitrous or boost, it doesn't matter. If you have an unrestrictive exhaust, a single pattern would be fine. If you still have cats and stock monifolds, You should still think about a small traditional split. With an XE lobe, you can increase duration numbers a little without taking a hit on overlap.

Try this for single: Comp XE 212 212 .558 lift 114 LSA +4 degrees advance.
For split try this: Comp XE 208 214 .554 .558 114 LSA +4 degrees advance.

Run these on comp 918 springs with stock retainers and keepers.

BigTex,
Sorry I have not replied, I have been out of town.
My first idea was to use the traditional split, but the tuners I have spoken with said that a reverse split or a no split cam would be better for torque.
I believe that both cams above use XE lobes by the way. At the moment, I have most of your basic bolt-ons, but will be getting a little more serious soon(N2O,etc..). I appreciate your advice and will probably go with the 208/208.
