Yeah, the T-cases are pretty damn tough

My stock light duty unit never had an issue and I race the full 1/4mile in 4hi and whenever I race from a stop on the street I use 4hi.

I didn't want to take a chance though with the new setup so while we are doing the 4L80E we are also doing a HD T-case.

The only thing that I've heard of failing is obviously the trans and I've heard the Duramax guys have problems with Tie Rods?

Some of the Durmax guys are pushing 1500wtq and are not having problem. But tie rods are defiantly a problem my truck broke 3 sets of them. One of the time it lost me a $100 race but it was worth it we got on video. It looks pretty nasty the front end was wheel hopping and the tires where flopping back and forth.

The reason that the transfer cases don't snap is because they are not really locked front to back such as a jeep in 4 hi (except quadra drive). They are "open" style or in the case of the C3 and SS viscus coupled which, will just slip away untill you are not getting any power transfer. If you read up you will find transfer cases are much stouter then other parts of the drivetrain.

That's not true at all. Every chevy case I can think of except the 203 locks front and rear together. The 203 acts like an open differential. And believe me I've bound up both my NP208 and NP241.

bound in 4 low or 4 high? Every one i've delt with has never bound in 4wd (autotrac) transfer case, Could this be due to the auto trac versus the floor shift model ???

Yeah, the 4X4 models lock the front and rear together. The C3 and SS have a viscous coupling that only locks when theres a difference in rotation speed.

The 4X4 will bind in 4lo or 4hi, but not autotrac. Autotrac keeps it in 2wd until it senses low traction, then engages the front wheels.
