Re: Patrick G -- Converter ??
Yes, I gained 1 mph, but this was mainly due to the truck launching so much harder than with the stock converter. My 60' times dropped 3 tenths alone. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> Do that and your mph is sure to rise.
On the Yank Truck Thruster 3000 converter, the coupling point is around 3500 rpms. That means you won't pick up but maybe 100-200 rpm in shift extension vs. the stock converter. So racing from a roll, it's only a little better than stock. But from a dead stop it's a night and day difference. That's one of the reasons for getting this larger size converter vs. a smaller model. The greater holding capacity of a 278mm converter has nearly stock street manners. My wife actually prefers it over the stock converter.
