Default patriot 243s on a lq4

I'm looking at a set of patriot stg 1 243s (ls6). They are cnc ported but they have stock valve size and stock valves. The also have patriot dual springs ti retainers etc. Right now I have a stock lq4 with a tr224 112lsa but I'm wondering what kinda gains these would give me? Being ported the will flow better and the bump in c/r would help too (what would the compression be ? If not milled)

I'm gunna be doin a cam swap prolly at the same time but I'm but I really need more torque and hopefully the better flow would pick it up a bit on top end too. I have a pretty good deal on these heads if I want them and I'm just wondering if they would be worth it. Like really what kinda gains could I expect?

Keep in mind this is a lifted truck (3400ish verter, 4.56 gears with 33" tires)

a stock 243 on a LQ4 will be 10:2:1 or 10:3:1
i would look into a hand port through someone that actually knows what they are doing. why waste on a stage 1 when you can get the PRC 2.5 5.3 heads on LS1tech most of the time for around 800-1000. for that price id put a set of L92s on there

Depending on gasket thickness you will be around 10.5:1, they would be a good budget head. Arent you planning on going FI down the road? If so I think these would be a good head to run, I wouldnt run a set of the 2.5 5.3s as those will put you up to 11:1. I wouldnt waste my time on L92s they just dont perform for all the money they cost after you get the intake to make them work, unless you get them ported but by that time you couldve just spent some money on a goood cathedral port head.

i would have to agree with cody, the 243s are a phenominal head if ported right, well worth the money spent doing so, doing the ls3 setup is expensive UNLESS youre already setup with a engine with rectangular ported heads and intake.theres alot involved in porting heads its not just making the intake and exhaust ports bigger <-- that alone can hurt you.

remember this, porting can hurt you more than it can help you, a cnc machine can only port so much, hand porting after a cnc is done is well worth the money, specially if its ported to the setup by someone that actually knows how to port and how air flows through the intake and heads.

Those heads are similar to the ones I put on my truck. They net a pretty substantial power increase. After the heads I could spin the tires for a foot or two in 4HI.

My ET went from 14.05 in 2HI on 35's to 13.78 in 4HI on 37's.

I'd go with 59cc on a 243. That will give you about 11:1.

How much were these heads new? I can't find any info hardly since they aren't made anymore or atleast they aren't on patriots website. They won't be milled because I still may go f/i down the road but I'm hopeing they will pick up my truck a good bit if I buy them... I would just have them checked and throw them on the truck

If youre planning on staying NA there are better heads, if youre planning on going FI these are good heads to run. Make sense?

Yea there's always something better but I can get these heads springs and all for 600 bucks? Is that a decent deal. I can't find any pricing on the heads but that's like a 3rd of what I would spend on a new set of ported heads. The little bump in compression and the better flow of the cnc'd 243s should help me out a bit n/a too.. And f/i is still possibility it just can't happen this year

Can't anyone tell me if these will be worthwhile for the money spent while I'm N/A? In my mind they will help a good bit but I'm lookin for some other opinions... I know there's better but would these be well worth the money spent?
