Default Paxton or Vortec Superchargers?

Is any one out there running one of these kits on there truck? I bought a Paxton kit off e-bay for a 6.0, as far as I have been told it should work fine on my 5.3, we shall see. Just curious for any info on these kits good or bad. Here's the item # 7908581924 I think I got it for a good price.

i have a vortech supercharger on my 00 5.3 silverado. I also bought mine used off of e-bay. I've had it for about 20,000 miles and so far have no complaints. Up the boost and you will be amazed how much stronger it feels or at least mine was like that

Default more boost!!!!

Thats good to hear. I would like to turn up the boost to 10-12psi but have to wait for the alky injection and LS1 edit. It's to hot here to run too much boost with out the alcohol. Do you have any dyno #'s or track times on your truck?

Default sisters

Vortec and Paxton are sister companys, so for the most part are the same thing.

Ive got the vortech on my truck, but it is non intercooled. Im waiting to set up the alky to turn up the boost to 10-12 as well.
If you look at the paxton, it looks exactly like the aftercooled vortech.
If you have the aftercooled paxton, I wouldnt think you would need alky to run 10#, maybe you would need to take out a couple * of timing. Keep us posted. What are you other mods??

Default Az. heat

greentahoe- Having seen many motors die here because of heat and detonation I really dont want to take any chances, thats way I wont run10-12psi with out alky. Did your kit come with larger injectors or are you using a fmu? The kit I am getting has both witch I dont understand way you need a fmu if the pcm is programed for the larger injectors?
My current mods are in my sig. Mods coming with in the next year 6.0, LT, cam, gasket matched heads, and probly a 4l80 because the 4l60 more then likely wont hold up.

Im not running the FMU, I bought 43lb injectors and had it tuned to use them. You dont want to run the FMU with larger injectors, in fact I would nt use an FMU. Get it tuned properly, that is the MOST important aspect. I guess an alky kit is a pretty cheap insurance policy.
I may even be changing my setup. Im not decided yet. Either way I think Im going to build a new motor and run low boost if any. High boost is too expensive and unpredictable to me. Im going to blow this one up with some higher boost first though .

no dyno #'s or track times yet as soon as i can save up some money and get a posi i will go to the track. I also would say get bigger injectors have it custom tuned and sell your fmu. I tend to run a little rich lower in the rpm's and start getting leaner up top with the fmu. I think that you would be ok running 10# even in Az if you have the aftercooler. Especially if you have the tuning that comes from paxton b/c your timing will be only around 12* at high rpm's. I was running 8# with no aftercooler and no alky injection last summer in 100 degree heat and had only a fraction of knock 0.8 But getting a alky injection set up is always cheap insurance and will allow you to run more timing which is always a plus!

oh yeah just thought i would tell you guys in case someone didn't know that the shaft on the paxton is slightly bigger so paxton pulleys won't fit on a vortech (found this out the hard way)
