Default PCV valve - whats with it?

So I pulled my PCV valve this morning and all it isnt like others I've seen. It doesnt have the little piece in it that moves just a small hole. Looks cheesy. Should I put a regular one in my truck?

It had a little black junk on it that I cleaned out with brake cleaner and its looks new now.

That's called a "fixed orifice" PCV valve, it's GM's re-designed PCV that's intended to help with oil consumption. You should be able just to clean it and be fine. FWIW, I replaced my original spring and plunger style PCV valve with one of those and it still sucked quite a bit of oil. Once I installed an AMW catch can, the pcv system made an annoying whistle...I re-installed the old style PCV and the noise went away. Bottom line, the PCV system will still suck some oil either way, but the re-designed valve is "supposed" to help.
